Project Narrative
RH+ARCH, in close collaboration with M Design Studio, led a comprehensive interior renovation of the Residence Inn in Bethesda, Maryland—repositioning a legacy property rooted in 1990s design into a contemporary, guest-focused environment aligned with today’s extended-stay expectations.
The project centered on a full transformation of the hotel’s interior experience, modernizing aging spaces while enhancing functionality, comfort, and operational performance. The design introduces a warm, contemporary palette defined by clean lines, layered textures, and durable, high-quality materials—balancing Marriott brand standards with a refined, residential sensibility tailored to longer-term guests.
Key interventions included the reimagining of the main lobby and social spaces, upgraded fitness and amenity areas, refreshed breakfast and lounge zones, redesigned corridors, and fully renovated guest suites. A defining feature of the project was the conversion of the rooftop pool into an elevated lounge environment—transforming an underutilized asset into a dynamic, revenue-generating space that supports both relaxation and social engagement.
Throughout the renovation, spatial planning and furniture strategies were carefully considered to support flexibility, comfort, and multi-functional use—accommodating both business and leisure travelers. Improved circulation, lighting, and material continuity establish a cohesive experience across all areas of the property.
This project reflects RH+ARCH’s ability to strategically reposition hospitality environments—integrating brand alignment, operational efficiency, and contemporary design to deliver a renewed Residence Inn experience that is both familiar and forward-looking.
