This project transforms a modest 1970s builder-grade residence into a refined, modern family home tailored to contemporary living. Through a comprehensive renovation and strategic expansion, the design reimagines the home's functionality, flow, and architectural character while creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living spaces.
The scope began with the complete demolition and reconfiguration of the existing first floor, allowing the design team to establish a new organizational framework centered around family gathering and everyday living. The renovation introduces a spacious open-concept kitchen with an adjacent eat-in area, creating the heart of the home and serving as a natural connection to the new dining and family rooms. Expansive glazing and carefully planned sightlines maximize natural light and provide strong visual connections to the surrounding landscape.
A significant addition to the residence creates a private primary suite designed as a personal retreat, complete with generous bedroom accommodations and supporting amenities. A dedicated home office provides a quiet and functional workspace, reflecting the evolving needs of modern households. Additional living accommodations include two new bedrooms, each featuring private ensuite baths to enhance comfort and privacy for family members and guests.
The arrival experience was completely reimagined through the creation of a new front entry sequence featuring integrated storage solutions and a conveniently located water closet. This redesigned entry establishes a welcoming focal point while improving day-to-day functionality and organization.
Supporting spaces were expanded through the addition of a new one-car garage with dedicated storage areas, providing practical utility while integrating seamlessly with the overall architectural composition. Outdoor living was equally important to the project vision, resulting in the creation of a new rear deck and patio that extend the home's living spaces into the landscape and provide flexible areas for entertaining, dining, and relaxation.
The completed design transforms an aging suburban residence into a sophisticated, highly functional home that reflects the lifestyle of its owners. By combining thoughtful renovation with carefully integrated additions, the project delivers a timeless architectural solution that balances comfort, elegance, and everyday practicality.
