Project Narrative
Loveless Porter Architects engaged Rich Hostelley Architect as Design Consultant and Architect of Record for the development of a new three-story, modern self-storage facility—redefining a traditionally utilitarian building type through a focus on efficiency, clarity, and architectural presence.
The project required a highly strategic approach to planning and organization, with an emphasis on maximizing rentable area while maintaining intuitive circulation and operational efficiency. The building is carefully configured to support seamless user access across all levels, integrating clear wayfinding, optimized unit layouts, and durable, high-performance materials suited to long-term use.
Central to the design is a departure from the conventional industrial aesthetic commonly associated with self-storage facilities. The exterior composition introduces a contemporary architectural language defined by clean lines, articulated massing, and a refined material palette. Strategic use of color, texture, and façade modulation reduces visual scale and enhances the building’s presence within its context—allowing it to integrate more naturally into the surrounding environment.
