Nestled within the foothills of the Los Angeles mountain range, this new 3,300-square-foot custom residence was envisioned as a refined contemporary retreat that captures the relaxed elegance of Southern California resort-style living. Positioned carefully along the hillside, the two-story home embraces sweeping mountain views while creating a strong connection between architecture, landscape, and the region’s year-round climate. The design seeks to balance privacy and openness, establishing a calm residential environment that feels both luxurious and deeply integrated into its natural setting.
The architectural concept centers around a private interior courtyard anchored by a resort-inspired swimming pool, establishing outdoor living as the experiential heart of the residence. This courtyard functions as both a visual centerpiece and an extension of the interior living environment, creating layered spaces for relaxation, entertainment, and family gathering. Surrounding living spaces open directly toward the courtyard through expansive floor-to-ceiling glazing systems, blurring the distinction between indoor and outdoor living while allowing natural light to fill the home throughout the day.
The home’s massing and spatial organization were carefully developed to maximize views toward the surrounding mountain range while maintaining a strong sense of privacy from adjacent properties. Large openings frame curated views of the foothills, creating a constant visual connection to the landscape and reinforcing the home’s relationship to the Southern California environment. Outdoor terraces, covered lounge areas, and transitional spaces encourage year-round engagement with the outdoors while supporting a seamless indoor-outdoor lifestyle characteristic of modern Los Angeles living.
