Rich Hostelley

Architect + Principal + Design Leader

NCARB Certified Architect | ARB Registered Architect

RIBA Chartered | RIAS Chartered

Rich Hostelley is an architect, design leader, and Principal of RH+ARCH, bringing more than 33 years of professional practice to projects ranging from residential and adaptive reuse to commercial, hospitality, scientific, community, and specialized facilities.

His approach to architecture is grounded in a simple belief: architectural significance is not defined by project size, type, or budget. Every project presents an opportunity to respond thoughtfully to place, purpose, context, and the people who will ultimately experience the architecture.

As both Design Architect and Architect of Record, Rich remains directly involved throughout the development of his projects—from programming and early design through technical development, multidisciplinary coordination, permitting, and construction. This continuity helps preserve the architectural vision as increasingly complex technical, regulatory, budgetary, and construction considerations are introduced.

For Rich, design and technical execution are not separate pursuits. Successful architecture requires both: a clear idea and the professional discipline necessary to carry that idea into built form.

Principal-Led Practice

RH+ARCH is structured around principal-led design and collaborative project delivery. Rich personally establishes the architectural direction of the studio's work and remains actively involved throughout each project—from initial concept through technical development and construction.

Multidisciplinary teams are assembled according to the needs of each commission, bringing together engineers, specialty consultants, contractors, and other professionals as required. This approach combines the resources necessary to deliver complex projects with the continuity, accountability, and direct involvement of a focused architectural practice.

Principal-led. Collaboratively delivered. A clear architectural vision, carried from concept through construction and strengthened by the expertise each project requires.

United States + United Kingdom

Rich's professional practice increasingly bridges the United States and United Kingdom.

He is an NCARB Certified architect registered across multiple U.S. jurisdictions and, in the United Kingdom, is an ARB Registered Architect, RIBA Chartered Architect, and RIAS Chartered Architect.

His growing UK involvement reflects an expanding commitment to architectural collaboration across geographic boundaries—connecting professional practice, design culture, emerging technology, and architectural education.

Rich divides his time between Virginia and Southern California and regularly travels to the United Kingdom, welcoming opportunities for professional collaboration and architectural engagement on both sides of the Atlantic.
